Prerequisites

  • I verified that this is not a filter list issue. Report any issues with filter lists or broken website functionality in the uAssets issue tracker.
  • This is NOT a YouTube, Facebook or Twitch report. These sites MUST be reported by clicking their respective links.
  • This is not a support issue or a question. For support, questions, or help, visit /r/uBlockOrigin.
  • I performed a cursory search of the issue tracker to avoid opening a duplicate issue.
  • The issue is not present after disabling uBO in the browser.
  • I checked the documentation to understand that the issue I am reporting is not normal behavior.

I tried to reproduce the issue when...

  • uBO is the only extension.
  • uBO uses default lists and settings.
  • using a new, unmodified browser profile.

Description

AFAICT, when deploying uBlock Origin via enterprise policies (In my case, using Firefox's policies.json), settings you configure are enforced, meaning that if the user tries to change them, they simply revert to how they're set in the policies on the next browser launch.

I'd like to see an option to configure settings for uBlock Origin as the default rather than enforce them, meaning that users can change them as needed. This would be valuable for organizations and advanced users who only want to ensure specific settings are always set by default, while allowing the user to change them if necessary.

Expected behavior

When deploying uBlock Origin, it should be possible to set settings as the default.

Actual behavior

Any settings configured via policies for uBlock Origin are enforced, and users can't change them (or they'll simply revert to how they're defined in policies on the next browser launch).
