Split package into several packages?

I am thinking about splitting the package into several sub-packages:

• Supervisor (main package)
• Supervisor Configuration
• Supervisor Event

The reason behind this is the fact that the package have several dependencies, which makes it harder to maintain applications relying on only one component. Also, there aren't much use cases where using all the three components actually makes sense. For example a monitor site only needs the main package, but doesn't need anything related to configuration or event.
